The specialized care patients receive at Total Ortho Express in Massapequa and Deer Park allows them to have their orthopedic injuries diagnosed and treated the day of their injury without having to wait for a scheduled appointment or without having to spend hours sitting in an emergency room to be only told to follow up with an orthopedic specialist.

Additionally, as orthopedic specialist if a fracture needs to be reduced or an injection is needed to be performed this can occur at the time of your initial visit.  We also offer patients the ease and convenience of following up with an orthopedic subspecialist associated with our larger practice – Total Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. All medical records, imaging studies, and insurance information are kept on file so our medical personnel have easy access to the information so patients don’t have the hassle of having to repeat and restate all of this information.

With all of these great benefits, the decision to be seen and treated at Total Ortho Express is an easy one.

However, it should be noted that the Total Ortho Express is not for all types of patients. The information presented in this post can be used to help you determine when you should come to our offices or the Emergency Room. Next time you or a loved one sustains an orthopedic injury you can use the information to help guide your decision-making process.

When you should NOT go to Total Ortho Express

Patients who sustain non-orthopedic injuries or have medical illnesses should not go to Total Ortho Express. Patients who have any of the following associated with an orthopedic injury should also not go:

  • A large laceration or wound
  • An open fracture (a bone sticking out of the skin)
  • A non-orthopedic injury, especially head trauma, that occurs in conjunction with an orthopedic one

Patients who are involved in serious accidents like car wrecks, collisions, and falls should go to the emergency room.

When you should go to Total Ortho Express

Patients who experience soft tissue injuries and minor fractures should come to see us instead of the emergency room. Some of the most common injuries that can be accurately diagnosed and effectively treated at include the following:

  • Strains and sprains
  • Wrist, ankle, hand, and foot fractures
  • Ligament tears
  • Various types of sports injuries

Patients who choose Total Ortho Express experience less waiting time than patients who choose the emergency room. They are able to have their injuries seen and treated without wasting their entire day waiting in line to see a doctor. They also are not exposed to patients who are dealing with medical illnesses or non-orthopedic medical conditions.
